Dear Friends,
I wanted to give a quick update on Jenny and her fight with cancer. Last week we met with her oncologist to get the results of her recent scans. He told us he looked at it as a good report. The spots (lesions) on her liver and lower right lung from her previous scans were all gone. This in great! However, there is still progressive cancer in her lymph nodes.
When I questioned how this could be a good report, he replied that she cannot live without a liver and without lungs, but she can live without the lymph nodes. He said we will deal with that now with further chemo treatments. Her next treatment is scheduled for Monday, May 30 during which time they will take another CA-125 count (which shows active cancer in her body). It was at 501 the last time which is more than 15 times what it should be (normal is 35 and below). If the count is down we will know the chemo is working in these cancerous areas. If it goes higher we know it is not working and we will have to have another consultation with the doctor for new recommendations.
Please continue to pray for Jenny. Last Saturday, May 21, her daddy had a bad wreck in Kentucky. It totaled his car and banged him up a good bit. However, he seems to be recovering well in the hospital in Danville, KY. They have recommended nursing home therapy or 24-hour home care for him. Jenny went up on Tuesday and has spent the past two days and nights in the hospital with him. Of course, she is not physically able to do this and no doubt will suffer repercusions from it. But she feels she must be there to help. Please remember him, Tom Pitman, as you pray for Jenny.
Thank you for your concern for us. You have been dear friends to pray with us and help in the many ways you have. May God richly bless you for your expressions of love. We love you all and remain..
In Christ's Service,
Jeff & Jenny Alverson
