The
question every person must ask in their lives is, "What will
become of me when I die?" One thing common to every human being
is the certainty of death. Men and women will spend every penny
they have to put death off, but it comes to everyone. Can anyone
be sure of anything after death? Will my actions in this life affect
my destination after I die? The Bible says that there is something
for us after we die and the actions we have taken in this life have
already affected our destination.
Unfortunately, everyone of us has chosen to go to the awful place
called hell when we die. Hell is a place where the Bible says, "Their
worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched." (Mark 9:44) Hell
is an awful place of torment created for the devil and his angels.
You may say, "What are you talking about? I have never done
anything to deserve such a fate!" The Bible, however, disagrees
with you. The Bible says in Romans 3:10, "As it is written,
there is none righteous; no, not one." Again in Romans 3:23
the Bible says, "For all have sinned and come short of the
glory of God."
The reason that we have chosen to go to hell is this: we have all
sinned. You might contest, "But everyone has sinned. Everyone
is a sinner!" Yes, you are right. The Bible teaches that because
Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, everyone of their descendants
has a sin nature. This explains why no one ever has to teach a child
how to sin. It comes naturally. This means that every person is
naturally going to hell. The Bible teaches in John 3:17, "He
that believeth on him [Jesus] is not condemned, but he that believeth
not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God."
If I stopped speaking at this point, you would have no hope. But
the Bible does not end by saying, "The wages of sin is death."
The last part of Romans 6:23 says, "But the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Jesus Christ came
to earth 2000 years ago, born of a virgin. This means that because
God was His Father and not man, Jesus did not have a sin nature.
The Bible says, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."
Jesus came into the world for one reason. He came to save you and
me.
There was only one way that He could save us. This one way was
being put to death for the sins of the whole world in our place.
Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and thus did not earn the punishment
of death. He did not have to die, but he did. He loved us so much
that He gave up His life so we could have eternal life. Jesus was
crucified on a cross and was forsaken by God and man. Yet this was
not the end of Him. Three days after Jesus Christ died on the cross,
He rose again from the dead. He is alive today in heaven and can
save anyone who will trust Him.
If you realize that you are a sinner and helpless without God,
and you believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again for you, you
can be saved. The Bible says, "That if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with
the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation." (Rom. 10:9-10) Salvation is a free
gift to anyone who will trust Christ to be their Saviour. How can
you be saved? Tell God that you are a sinner and that you believe
that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Turn from trying to
save yourself, ask Him to save you, and take Him at His Word. God
says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord,
shall be saved." (Rom. 10:13) If you will believe (i.e. trust)
in Christ, you will be saved forever. Let
us know about your spiritual decision.
